Junior Hurlers Continue Good Start to the League

The junior hurlers made it two wins from two against a Sars team who beat them in last years league final. Sars took the early advantage through the free taking of Niall McCarthy however Cobh kept in touch with Adam McCarthy and Lee Murphy accurate from placed balls along with Jer Meaney and Darragh O' Keeffe adding fine scores from play.When a long range effort from Aidan O' Rourke fell short, Meaney was the quickest to react with a powerful pull in the air giving the Sars keeper no chance, as the sliotar finished in the back of the Sars net. This gave Cobh a lead which they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. As the game entered the second half Sars stayed in touch with fine scores from open play and placed balls. But free take Adam McCarthy's accuracy never erred and Darragh O' Keeffe added another two fine scores from play to leave Cobh in a strong position as the game entered the final quarter. The crucial score came when a low ball from Cian Spriggs caused confusion in the Sars defence and ended up in the net. Cobh added three more points with Aidan O' Rourke hitting a fine point from a tight angle and Lee Murphy adding two more, including a wonderful long range sideline cut. Cobh the deserving winners, with a final score of 2-18 to 0-15.
