Cobh Gaa Coaching - Silver Lee Flag Award

Cobh Gaa Coaching Structures Recognised with Silver Lee Flag Award.

Following on from achieving the Bronze standard for 2013, Cobh Gaa were recently awarded the Silver Lee Flag for 2014 in recognition of the Coaching and Games structures in place at the club.

Recipients of Lee Flag Coaching Awards for 2014 have recently been announced by Rebel Óg Coaching. A total of 61 clubs were recognised for their efforts in coaching under the Gold, Silver and Bronze headings, an increase of 50% from the 2013 scheme. All clubs will benefit from a host of rewards through 2015 such as extra GDA visits, entry to draws for Munster & All Ireland tickets, entry to draw for the chance to play in Croke Park Blitzes, to name but a few. The biggest benefit to the clubs involved however is the fact that they are working in the coaching areas proven to help improve and maximize participation and to develop skill levels of their players.

Games Manager Kevin O Callaghan noted that “the clubs who entered for the scheme are all putting in an unbelievable effort to keep GAA at the forefront of their communities. The quality of the coaching taking place in these clubs is first class and the quality of the players they will produce is going to be of a very high standard. All clubs have a Coaching Officer in place who is usually well-supported by a Coaching Committee and this is a template that all clubs should follow over the next few years to keep coaching and games development at the forefront of their club.”

Cork Coaching Officer, Kevin O Donovan applauded all 61 clubs who engaged in the scheme in 2014, with all officers and coaches deserving enormous credit for the tremendous work which they are undertaking in the promotion of GAA. All the clubs across the three categories are winners as they are working to such  high standards both on and off the pitch to ensure they get their players to reach their potential.”

The Lee Flag Initiative is now being replaced with ‘Rebel Óg Coaching Benchmarks 2020’, which will set clubs new tasks and challenges to achieve best practice in coaching.

Congratulations to all involved!
